Jason, 4/10/05 I've driven nearly 5,000 miles in my Fiesta 1.6 Zetec-S TDCi and every one has been a pleasure. The car offers a fantastic mix of peformance and economy which is great with the current fuel price. The diesel engine whilst a little noisier than its petrol equivalent provides plently of low-down power which makes it really usable round town - offering a real surge of power when you need to nip into a gap in the traffic. On the motorway, the car is quick and very stable, and accelerates well even in 5th gear. However, where the car really excels is on country lanes - the steering is taut with lots of feedback, the handling and balance from the lowered suspension is reassuringly good and there is plenty of grip from the low profile tyres. And that torquey diesel engine gives plenty of oomph coming out of the corners. The brakes give strong stopping power, backed up with ABS that kicks in (not too early) if you really need it. The interior is well-designed and thought out, and though some criticise it for lacking panache, everything is easy to use and large enough to find and operate without distracting from the driving. For example, the CD/radio is simple but very easy to use with large clear buttons. Externally, the car looks great with smart alloy wheels, a redesigned front bumper with projector-style fog-lights and a high-level rear spoiler which all enhance the cars looks without being too over the top. In summary, this is a drivers car that offers a great balance between performance and economy. If you enjoy your driving, but do lots of miles and need to keep your fuel costs down, this is the one. It'll be happy pootling down to the shops, and holds its own on the motorway, but it's an absolute hoot on the twisty roads. r dalrymple, 5/8/05 had the car from new in november 04 and has not been any trouble at all.handling v/good as i am a valeter i keep the interior in a1 condition my car is the firefly edition which is a limited edition car.there is plenty of room inside and even with three doors the front seat catches are at the top so it is easy to let people in the back seat fuel consumpsion is about 40 mpg.due its first service and have been quoted £119 at main dealer which is not bad that includes vat etc overall a great car in my opinion big improvement on the old style fiesta |
