Jasn Dakin, 3/2/05 My first thoughts on being asked to look at the Kia Sorento by my wife was the same as many a badge snob. But any negative thoughts soon slip away once you get up & personal with one. This package is unbelievable value for money - and no the quality does not get sacrificed. Build quality is on a par with VW (my other car is a Passat), all doors shut with a satisfying 'thunk'. Equipment levels are superb, I got the XE, it has plenty of toys inc. a great stereo, good auto-shift box with tip-tronic style option. Fuel economy good for size of vehicle. Off the mark it's no slouch, 0-60 in 14s is par for the course for 2 tonnes of steel! I find it a relaxing drive, it calms me down, very sedate. Space - the thing is cavernous, and with the back seats down you could take an awful lot of rubbish to the tip. On the looks side - I find it very pleasing on the eye, much better than other so called SUV's that I won't mention here, the Kia is a true 4x4 that also performs well on the road. If you need a car that can do 130 then you shouldn't be looking for a 4x4, in my humble opinion. Having driven the Discovery and Mitsubishi Shogun sport I find there is no comparison. Buyers in the market will make there own minds up. Don't be one of the herd, be different, be £20k better off as well!!! Tim Allbutt, 11/12/04 The KIA Sorento is a great 4 x 4. It does everything with ease. Exceptional value for money. My last 4 x 4 was a Land Rover Discovery nice 4 x 4 but lacked build quality and was unreliable. What a different picture with the Sorento, excellent quality, great fuel economy, smooth ride, good performance. Overall an unbeatable package. Don't be put off by the badge, I do not regret letting the Discovery go. |
