Quick Summary

Not recommended. Reasonable levels of equipment on some models but hard to hide the car's Indian origins. Prices seem well over the top, too

Full Road Test

Troubled MG Rover is going back to basics with the company's new town car. The CityRover is actually built in India in partnership with budget manufacturer Tata. While making the car there helps keep costs to a minimum, the CityRover lacks the refinement of key rivals - like the Fiat Panda and Ford Ka. Prices seem to completely ignore everyones else's price cuts over the last few years, while the entry level Solo spec car has few features - they're saved for the Style version. There's only one engine option, a mediocre 1.4 petrol producing 85bhp. Unless you pine for an Austin Metro, it's hard to see the point.
